  These are a few of the advantages of hydropower, now let’s explain some of them in more depth.
  Dams can help control floods, they do so by collecting and holding water. When they reach a certain level and is done collecting, some dams are designed to release the water back collected into the body of water at a regulated speed or move the water somewhere else for other uses.
